BEYHAN 1
DAM AND HEPP

Beyhan 1 Dam and HEPP Project is located at an air distance of 15 km to the east of Palu District center and 2.5 km to the northeast of Beyhan Town. The construction of the project was completed in October 2014, and the project has been contributing 1,585.68 GWh annually in meeting the energy demand of Turkey since March 2015.

The dam body was designed as RCC and its total volume is 1,350,00 m³. The height of the crest is 97 m from the foundation and 83.6 m from the thalweg, whereas the crest length is 364 m and the crest width is 10 m.

The powerhouse, the total installed capacity of which is 582.10 MWe (3 x 183.5 MWe + 31.6 MWe), is located adjacent to the dam body and is composed of 3 main and 1 small units.

The spillway which is located on the left bank of the dam has a discharge capacity of 10,528 m³/s with 6 radial gates.

Beyhan 1 Dam and HEPP which have been in operation since 2015 with an installed capacity of 582.10 MWe is the HEPP project with the 9ᵗʰ Highest Installed Capacity among all dams in operation, and the HEPP project with the Second Highest Installed Capacity among the dams currently operated by the private sector in Turkey.
