Kalehan Energy was established in 2007 by two leading construction companies of Turkey, Cengiz İnşaat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. and Özaltın İnşaat Ticaret ve Sanayi A.Ş., with a 50%-50% partnership structure. Kalehan Energy consists of 3 sister companies which are:
- Kalehan Kale Enerji Üretim A.Ş.
- Kalehan Genç Enerji Üretim A.Ş. and
- Kalehan Beyhan Enerji Üretim A.Ş.
The hydroelectrical potential of the Murat River Basin between Alparslan 2 Dam and Keban Dam is utilized via projects that have been developed by these companies, namely the Yukarı (Upper) Kaleköy Dam and HEPP, Aşağı (Lower) Kaleköy Dam and HEPP and Beyhan 1 Dam and HEPP projects.
With the mentioned projects corresponding to a total installed capacity of 1,784.56 MW, Kalehan Energy contributes 4,890.64 GWh in meeting the annual energy demand of Turkey.
