Yukarı (Upper) Kaleköy Dam and HEPP Project is located 3.5 km east of Yenibaşak Village in Solhan District of Bingöl Province. The facility, which is constructed on the Murat River, has an installed capacity of 626.85 MWe. The construction was completed in February 2018; the project began producing an annual energy volume of 1,957.17 GWh in April 2018.

The volume of the RCC dam body is 2,340,000 m³. The width and the length of the crest are 10.00 m and 516.40 m, respectively, and the dam height is 150.00 m from the foundation and 137.50 m from the thalweg.

The powerhouse, which is designed adjacent to the dam body, is composed of 3 main and 1 small units (3 x 199.4 MWe + 1 x 28.65 MWe). The left bank of the dam has a controlled spillway with a capacity of 8,777 m³/s. The spillway has 4 radial gates.

Yukarı (Upper) Kaleköy Dam and HEPP, which started operation in 2018, is the 8ᵗʰ Largest HEPP project by Installed Capacity among all dam and HEPP projects that are currently in operation in Turkey and ranks as the Largest HEPP by Installed Capacity among those developed by the private sector.

In addition to these titles, Yukarı (Upper) Kaleköy Dam and HEPP was awarded the first prize in the category of “BEST PROJECT” at the 8^th International Symposium on RCC Dams held in China in November 2019 by the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD) and the Spanish National Committee for Large Dams (SPANCOLD).
